The Educational Technology Leaders Certificate Program is designed to meet the needs of all school technology leaders, primarily in the K-12 setting, who seek to understand and utilize new technologies in their schools and classrooms. The courses offer a research-based, practice-focused curriculum that will impact a participant’s knowledge, skills and conceptual framework of shared leadership in technology integration and its implementation.

Participants have the opportunity to improve their own skills in the use of technology and develop approaches for teaching others using technology. This program leads to a broad understanding of the role of technology in education.

The program places a strong emphasis on the role of technology in pedagogical techniques, as well as the importance of integration of technology in curriculum development. Students completing this program will be prepared to integrate modern educational technology into teaching, and may be qualified for positions as a technology coordinator or facilitator. For administrators, the course will broaden understanding of technology issues and equip them to make informed decisions in these critical areas.

These courses are designed to serve as a resource for all school technology leaders, including

  • principals,
  • school superintendents,
  • technology coordinators, and
  • teacher leaders.

Individuals who wish to receive an Educational Technology Leaders certificate offered through the Curry School of Education must successfully complete all 12 credits of coursework . Although not required, it is recommended that students enroll in these courses in a consecutive sequence. The courses will be offered in a continuous Summer - Fall - Spring - Summer cycle, starting in 2006.

Courses may also be selected individually and may serve to fulfill elective requirements in other degree programs.
